Ray has over thirty years experience in business and as a lawyer. We offer full legal services and representation in Mandurah. Whilst we have a particular interest in business, commercial, taxation and insurance legal issues, including preparing and reviewing agreements and contracts, with Judi now joining the practice we have developed a significant practice advising and representing clients in the Family Court.
Many years ago Ray had occasion to have morning tea with Justice Michael Kirby, then President of the NSW Court of Appeal, later a judge of the High Court. Ray will never forget what he said to him: “The problem with the law” Justice Kirby said, “is that many lawyers do not practice law, they trade in law”. We take pride in practising law, a very learned profession. We understand that addressing issues in the context of the legal system can be, and often is, one of the most trying times in a person’s life. Our approach to being a lawyer is to communicate in language our clients can understand. Sometimes a complex situation requires complex language, but most of the time clear simple English is the best means of communication and this is Judi’s forte.
As barristers and solicitors we are dedicated to providing efficient and quality legal services to work with clients to avoid conflict when facing legal issues in a way that most efficiently meets their needs and goals. Our philosophy is to work with clients to do everything possible to avoid conflict. Where that is not possible, to vigorously pursue all legal means to protect our clients’ rights. At the same time being mindful of the significant financial and emotional toll that these issues can take we strive to handle cases in a way that minimizes the high costs of litigation.
In addition to business and commercial law, over a 15 year period Ray consulted to most of the major life insurance companies on legal and factual issues involving insurance claims. He knows how insurance companies think and what means they use to avoid paying claims. His experience with insurance companies is now available to assist clients having difficulties with all aspects of insurance especially claims.
Having spent the first eight years of his legal career as a barrister in New South Wales, Ray has had extensive experience managing civil litigation and he is available to represent clients in most civil disputes. More recently he has managed litigation in the WA Supreme Court and the Federal Court.

Judi has now joined the practice and we work as a team. Judi holds an unrestricted practising certificate having been admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 13 December 2019. Judi practices in Family Law and Wills & Estates and looks after all our conveyancing work. She brings the unique female perspective to our Family Law practice.

The first meeting has a nominal charge. We try to make a first meeting very casual and just have a discussion about your issues and explain options to you. We explain what to expect dealing with a lawyer and what our fees would be. More often than not we will be able to give you a fixed price for our services. If we can’t give you a fixed price we keep you informed every step along the way so there won’t be any surprises from unexpected big bills.
